Damn, and I thought my local catered to squares, you have a potential goldmine. Just stick with sides like those listed and you'll be up in the long run.

those weren't national lines, your book is either screwing you, or he has good players.

either way, you can't put your money on the hopes that other will lose like that.

taking point swings is not a very good way to bet, unless it is more than 2 points, and a national line movement.

best of luck this year.

Fellas,

Here has ALWAYS been my take....

1- Have as MANY OUTS as possible to facilitate shopping.
2- When you get a line movement in the NFL that takes you to or beyond a key number AND that movement FAVORS taking the underdog....I have a wager.

My local is merely ONE out for me. What difference does it make WHERE I find the best line?

Dawgball,

No doubt your local's customers are either lazy or naive to take the worst of those lines. Smart advice you list: shopping for #'s and making a wager when it goes through a key #.

Good luck.

Also...............It is possible his local has the sharpest lines of all and he makes a killing off people who think they're getting a good line.

Fellas,

Thanks for the input. How do you DEFINE sharpest? My local MOVED off ALL of these games as follows.....

Lines at 930 am PACIFIC

KC-3
VIKES-6.5
PHILLY-6.5
CINCY-6

So, what you are saying in effect is that JOE PUBLIC didnt move these? I dont know if I buy into that.

cincy -6 it started at 6 or maybe 5- no big deal

philly started at 7 do movd to 6-, still no big deal

kc started at pk, and moved to -3 the first day(meaning tuesday)--you should of faded the public on that play, taking san diego--winner.

you should always follow the line movement the first 2 or 3 weeks, then fade about week 3 til week 13 or 14. then the public and services really move lines, and usually they are winners.

that is the golden rule i ahve lived by for 10 years +, it works, just have to get the right starting line(opening), and work kfrom there.

your book might ahve someone playing large amounts, in which case maybe you should call in at different times and see how the line moves and when it moves. depending on if he is a big dog or favorite player, will matter when he calls in.

just my 3 cents

for instance, i get a sheet on tuesday that has all the games, i can bet any game up til game day at the line he gives.

if i checked vegas lines say minnesota was 5- on tuesday, my sheet would say -6- or even seven.

he is guessing which way the public will go, usually the favorite side, and he is usually right on the number. if th ebook has been it a long time, he knows which way the public will move the lines and he will place his accordingly.

or maybe he has you figured out on how you place bets, in that case, you are screwed.

it looks like the lines yo gave, he knows you fade the public.

Well,

Thats what makes the world "go round"....a difference of opinion. I have always felt that the "key" to beating this game is getting the "best of the number". My primary definition of this, ESP. in the NFL....is getting an underdog that has been bet to or thru a key number. I could care less if the book thinks that I fade the public....cause I do. Regarding the KC line, I still felt the "public choice" was SD as they have become "darlings" and KC has fallen out of favor.

Your local sets himself up for A LOT of middles. I would think it would be quite dangerous to move off so many key numbers, whatever works for him though.

the problem is you are comparing apples and oranges here.

you are fading the public with your bookies lines, i'm sorry but your bookie's players do not speak for the public, find a vegas sight that posts opening lines and go by those.

perfect example you figured the public was hammering kc, when in fact the public hammered kc to start the week out, moved the line 3 points.

at some point giving -3 or -1 didn't even matter, sd still won. you need to come up with your lines. my line was sd -3, so anything less than -3 was a great number for me. easy to say now, but it is the only way to do it.

ace ace is a great example of coming up with your lines and comparing.

best of luck the rest of season.

and regardless fading people i feel is a bad idea, everyone finds a neeedle in the hay stack every now and then.

If his local has the best lines, according to the side/action he's leaning towards, then why in the hell wouldn't he take them?

Those lines were incredibly square and he should continue exploiting them as often as possible. Laying against the public with such favorable/square lines will eventually pay off - without question.

2-3 point advantage isnt going to sway me unless it's 2 very good defensive teams playing eachother
